Legal Basics for Game Developers is a presentation that will discuss and explain the most common legal pitfalls for those who make video games. Ross A. Hersemann, a Chicago based attorney, will explain copyrights, trademarks, the right of publicity, and basic contract principles as they apply to the game industry.

Ross A. Hersemann is a writer, gamer, and attorney licensed to practice in Illinois. He is an organizer of the Chicago Video Game Law Summit, the founder of the Video Game Law Society at the John Marshall Law School, and operates the video game law blawg Loading Law. Ross has contributed articles on video game law to IGDA Perspectives, Legati Law, and Game Dev Law. Ross is the President of Chicago’s Video Game Art Gallery, and routinely volunteers with the IGDA Chicago and Chicago Loot Drop.
